Here's The Real Reason Ed Sheeran Quit Twitter

If you thought that Ed Sheeran quit Twitter because of the hoopla surrounding his Game of Thrones appearance, then you are severely misinformed. In fact, the singer/songwriter shared the real reason for leaving the social media realm via his Instagram, naturally.

Less than 24 hours after his cameo on the hit HBO show aired and was met with a slaughter of hate, Sheeran deleted his account, but it appears he had been meaning to hop off the platform for some time now. It was all just one big coincidence. "Last i'll say on this. I came off Twitter Coz I was always intending to come off Twitter, had nothing to do with what people said about my game of thrones cameo, because I am in game of thrones," he captioned a recent Instagram post.

"why the hell would I worry what people thought about that. It's clearly f**kin' awesome. Timing was just a coincidence, but believe what you want. Here is an unrelated picture of me and my wonderful manager riding off into the sunset together," he continued. See the post below!

Even though you won't catch him on your Twitter timeline, you can expect to see the "Shape of You" singer on a forthcoming episode of The Simpsons called "Haw-Haw Land." It's a parody of La La Land, where Ed will play a character named Brendan, who Lisa is instantly smitten with. "He keeps alternating [between], 'You’re not that great, but you could be fantastic,' and she keeps falling for him because of his talent," executive producer Al Jean told EW.
