Toledo Municipal Court To Hold Amnesty Week

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Municipal Court will mark its 100th anniversary next month by holding an Amnesty Week.

Beginning Monday, October 2nd through Saturday, October 7th, Amnesty Week will give people who have non-violent bench warrants the opportunity to come to court and have their warrants cleared without the fear of being arrested and taken into custody.

โ€œAll of us judges have agreed that we will not take them into custody,โ€ said Presiding Judge Joshua Lanzinger of Toledo Municipal Court.  โ€œWeโ€™ll remove their bench warrants and see if we can resolve their cases that day.  If we canโ€™t resolve their cases that day, theyโ€™ll be given a future court date.โ€

Individuals with these warrants can visit the Court between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. October 2 through October 6th, or on October 7th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Informational booths from local mental health and substance abuse treatment providers will be on site on October 3rd and 4th and staff from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles will be at the courthouse throughout Amnesty Week helping individuals determine what steps are necessary to resolve driverโ€™s license issues.
