Bond Hearings for ICE Detainees to Resume

(Detroit, MI) Bond hearings begin today for dozens of male detainees from an ICE raid last month in Sandusky.

Those male migrant farm workers have been held for more than a month at a private prison in the Youngstown area, but could be released this week to finally see their families who live in the Willard, Norwalk,  and Sandusky areas.

They're being bussed in groups to federal immigration court in Detroit, where Latino advocacy group HOLA Ohio has staged volunteers waiting to post their bond from a $50,000 fund formed mainly from donations by ACLU Ohio members. Volunteers in Michigan also are standby to drive the undocumented immigrants back to northern Ohio.

That same network already has paid the bonds of nine female farmworkers who were transported back to their U.S. citizen children last week. But dozens more remain in federal detention awaiting deportation from the Corso's raids in Sandusky and Castalia that netted more than 100 detainees.
