Maroon 5 Has Basically 'Accepted' Super Bowl LIII Halftime Gig

UPDATE: It’s confirmed: the band will be the halftime performers for next year's Super Bowl, per reports from Rolling Stone.

Could Maroon 5 be taking over the halftime stage? A source says it's a done deal.

“The offer has been extended and they’ve pretty much accepted,” an insider told Us Weekly Wednesday (September 19) about the band's likelihood to headline Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, Georgia, next year.

The deal, however, has yet been substantiated, though frontman Adam Levine did once express in a 2015 interview on the Howard Stern Show that he and his band were "very actively" wanting to play at the big game.

"I like the fact that we can talk about it because I think the band would be like thrilled to do it," Levine said at the time, but denied reports that they were in talks to play, adding, "as far as where the rumors came from, that had nothing to do with any real conversations."

The 39-year-old also mentions that the group had been on the "short list" of acts to perform — however, the opportunity was eventually given to Coldplay.

Nonetheless, fortune seems to be on Maroon 5's side this time around.

Right now, the group is on their "Red Pill Blues Tour" in support of their newest album. Conveniently, however, the troupe will take a break following their final 2018 show at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve before kicking off the Australian leg of their jaunt on February 19.

It's perfect timing since the game isn't until February 3. Considering the gap in between, we'd say M5 has a fighting chance at becoming SB LIII's headliners.
