'The Great British Bake Off' Host Sandi Toksvig Quits After Three Years

After three years, Sandi Toksvig is leaving her role as one of the personalities on the UK reality cooking show, The Great British Bake Off.

On Thursday (January 16), the star, 61, took to social media to let longtime viewers know that she is exiting the series to focus on other projects. "When stepping down from a job it is quite common for people to say they are doing so in order to spend more time with their family," she kicked off her note. "Unusually I am departing from the Great British Bake Off so I can spend more time with my other work. As my waistline will testify, Bake Off is an all-consuming show."

Meanwhile, the series doubled down on the news in a statement, informing fans that they are already looking for a replacement to join co-presenter Noel Fielding, as well as Bake Off judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. "Spending time with Prue, Paul and Noel has been one of the great pleasures of my life. These are friendships which I know will continue beyond the confines of television," she continued.

After calling Bake Off "a wonderful programme," Toksvig said that the success of the show goes beyond the rotating personnel. "The reason for that, of course, is that the true stars of the show are the bakers themselves. I wish everyone well," she added.

Toksvig joined the series in 2017, alongside Fielding, and appeared on 51 episodes for its new broadcast deal with Channel 4.
