Janet Jackson Details 'Black Diamond' Tour, Her Son's Musical Skills & More

Janet Jackson is embracing her newfound strength and life as a mom to 3-year-old son Eissa. The icon stopped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday, February 12, and detailed her forthcoming new album and tour, the Black Diamond World Tour.

The Black Diamond World Tour kicks off June 24 in Miami and tickets go on sale on Thursday, February 13, via LiveNation.com.

“The black diamond is the toughest to cut and for me that totally translated to the hardest to hurt, to destroy and I’ve always seen myself as … strong, but in recent years, I’ve really realized how strong I am as a woman,” Janet shared with Ryan Seacrest on-air. “I see myself as a rock. I have some rough edges, but wanting to show my strength and share some of my stories and hopefully it will inspire others and give them strength if they need it.”

The iconic performer teased fans will have to listen to the album to learn more from her experiences but that it’s the perfect balance of a record.

“It’s also upbeat, fun,” she added. “I think it’s important to mix the two. … It’s ‘This is where I’m at in my life right now,' but at the same time I’m not going to forget to have fun and enjoy life.”

The 53-year-old reflected that her greatest inspiration and gift in life has been welcoming her son, Eissa, with ex Wissam Al Mana.

“God truly blessed me,” she reflected of getting pregnant at 50. “… I found out I was going to have a baby on my birthday and he’s 3 now … [I am] so thankful with the pregnancy. [I had] no problems, no issues, no nothing. It was so smooth … and he’s such a beautiful boy. Such a sweetheart — everyone says that about their child — but it’s the truth.”

Janet shared with Seacrest that Eissa is aware of what she does for a living and that he’s genetically gifted when it comes to music.

“He loves music. … He loves classical music. He’s into the cello,” she added. “That’s his instrument.”

Janet explained she originally got him a violin and that he’s already performed in plays at school and yes, she’d advocate the family business “if thats what he wants to do.”

“It’s the most incredible thing,” she concluded of motherhood.
