TPS reveals back to school plan beginning October 12

Dr Romules Durant has released the back to school plan for Toledo Public Schools, and it's based on a hybrid model of both in school and virtual learning. Preschool through second grade will return to in classroom learning first on Oct 12, they will be followed by the remaining grades up through high school on Oct 26.

According to Durant "Students will be broken up into groups, meaning we’ll have an A group and a B group. One group will go Monday and Thursdays and the other will attend Tuesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays will be designated for intervention, professional development, and deep cleaning of our buildings.”

A post on the TPS Facebook page explained the new program

The timeline for students to return to school is as follows:

Monday, October 12: All PreK through second grade students

Monday, October 26: All third through twelfth grade students

Along with serving as an intervention day with students, Wednesday will be the day for TPS staff members to complete Professional Development. That day will also give the building cleaning crews the opportunity to deep clean all locations - beyond the sanitization that will take place every day and in after school hours.

A number of health hygiene protocols will be mandated for all students and staff, including daily temperature checks and wearing face coverings.

Additional information will be released soon. Dr. Durant wanted to share this update as soon as possible so families have ample time to plan for this change in learning.

We appreciate your continued support of the district and for being#TPSProud
