Judge Judy Lands New Courtroom Show With Amazon: 'I'm Over The Moon'

Judge Judy is back!

According to a report from Variety, Judge Judy Sheindlin is partnering with Amazon Studios on a new courtroom reality show. The new series will “see Sheindlin preside over a different court with her usual iron fist, featuring no-nonsense, expeditious verdicts on a new array of cases, litigants and judgments.”

Judge Judy, which has aired on CBS for 25 seasons, is coming to an end in 2021. When Sheindlin announced the news back in March, she teased her next project during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "I've had a 25-year-long marriage with CBS and it's been successful," Sheindlin told Ellen Degeneres. "Next year will be our 25th season, silver anniversary, and CBS sort of felt, I think, they wanted to optimally utilize the repeats of my program. Because now they have 25 years of reruns. So what they decided to do was to sell a couple of years' worth of reruns. But I'm not tired, so Judy Justice will be coming out a year later."

Sheindlin's latest venture will air on IMDb TV. “I’m over the moon to be in business with Amazon Studios and continuing this incredible journey with them on a new platform is so exciting,” the TV judge said in a statement. “I used to yell at my husband, Jerry, for all the packages he had ordered from Amazon every day. I have enough mouthwash in the cabinets to keep the entire planet’s breath fresh until the next millennium. The doorbell never stops ringing. The dogs don’t even bark at the delivery people anymore. After I signed this deal, I apologized to Jerry. Who would have thought that the Sheindlin’s and Amazon would be mishpachah?”

Few other details about the project are currently known, however, it's likely it's quite lucrative for Sheindlin. She was previously making $47 million per year during her time at CBS. She also made an estimated $95 million for selling the library of Judge Judy reruns to CBS.
