As the United States eagerly awaits the results of the presidential election, it appears many Americans had the same idea for how to pass the time. According to Google Trends, the most popular Google searches on Election Day were all about food and booze.

On Tuesday (November 3), the official Google Trends Twitter account shared some interesting information. "Are you thinking about food, this Election Day?" the tweet reads. "You are not alone." Google Trends then shared the top five "near me" searches from that evening, which includes "pizza near me," "Chinese food near me," "liquor stores near me," "sushi near me" and "Mexican food near me."

Later that night, Google Trends updated their post with a new front-runner—french fries. While pizza was the early front runner, it seems that as the night went on and the results still weren't in, Americans began caving the salty, savory taste of french fries.

Not only were people searching for fries and nearby liquor stores, Google Trends revealed that searches for those two terms reached an “all-time high" on Tuesday night. Americans even got so hungry that "Chinese food near me" was more frequently searched than “who won the election."
