DeWine Threatens Closure If Mask Mandate Not Enforced

During a statewide address today Ohio Governor Mike DeWine threatened that bars and restaurants would face closure in one week from today if they violate a revised mask order. DeWine said the move was a response to an increase in the number of positive cases of the coronavirus and "if the current trend continues and cases keep increasing" he would not hesitate to restaurants, bars, and fitness centers. DeWine went on to say "I am very well aware of the burden this will place on employees and the owners. But, these are places where it is difficult or impossible to maintain mask-wearing, which we know now is the chief way of slowing this virus."

The revised restrictions include penalties for businesses that will be held responsible, and potentially closed for 24 hours, if they allow employees to not wear masks and permit customers to enter without wearing masks.
