Keeping tabs on the latest COVID-19 data, Ohio State University officials aim to restart “safe and robust in-person experiences” this fall.
The university will still follow public safety measures as it re-implements in-person learning, allows students into residence halls, staff working on campus, campus services and events, fans attending football games and other athletic events, and more.
The Ohio State University unveiled these plans in a press release Thursday (February 25).
“We have learned from our success in keeping our campuses operating safely over the last six months, creating the opportunity to broaden face-to-face interactions for students, faculty and staff,” President Kristina M. Johnson said in the release. “Our goal is to welcome more Buckeyes back to our campuses in the fall, safely and in person…“I am so proud of Buckeye Nation – the well-being of the university community will always be our top priority.”
Officials plan to announce further details in the coming months, and will come up with contingency plans, the release states. The university has documented its pandemic response via the Safe and Healthy Buckeyes page.
The Ohio Department of Health has reported more than 962,000 total COVID-19 cases statewide as of Thursday. The department has also tracked nearly 50,000 hospitalizations and more than 17,000 total deaths at this time.
