Nutella has come underfire following a recent report from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). One of the main ingredients of Nutella is palm oil. It is what helps give it a creamy texture and heihtens the flavor. Palm oil when used in processed foods is heated to a high temperature and a potentially carcinogenic contaminants could form. The maker of Nutella, Ferrero processes their palm oil at a lower temperature and is more careful about the raw materials is selects, which reduces the level of contaminants.
