Missing Supermarket Employee's Body Found After 10 Years. His body was found behind a Store Cooler.
The parents of Iowa resident Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada reported him missing on November 28th, 2009, telling officers they'd had an argument with their son, who stormed off and never returned home. A decade later, the supermarket that once employed Murillo-Moncada went out of business. Workers who were dismantling the Council Bluff store's shelves and removing its refrigeration units made a gruesome discovery: Murillo-Moncada's body, wedged in an 18-inch gap between the cooler and the wall.
Police believe Murillo-Moncada went to the supermarket and climbed on top of the coolers, which is where employees stored merchandise. It was also used as a hiding place for employees who wanted to take a break undetected, police say. According to investigators, Murillo-Moncada likely fell into the gap and became trapped. They suspect the sound of the coolers masked his cries for help. His death has been ruled as accidental.
