ARCHIE LEFT IN CANADA?
When Harry and Meghan dropped their “Megxit” bombshell on the royal family this week, alerting them that they were planning to scale back their official duties and split their time between Canada and the UK, their little guy Archie was with his nanny back in Vancouver, Canada, where the family had spent several weeks over Christmas.
After making the announcement in the UK on Wednesday, Meghan immediately flew BACK to Canada to be with 8-month-old Archie — leaving Prince Harry behind to deal with the royal family’s wrath.
TRUE OR FALSE: OPRAH HELPED THE SUSSEXES MAKE THIS DECISION
There was a big rumor yesterday that Oprah Winfrey was one of several close friends who gave some advice to Harry and Meghan about breaking free from royal tradition.
And she is a close friend, that’s legit. Oprah attended the couple’s wedding and is also close to Meghan’s mom, Doria.
But she made a statement to People, saying “Meghan and Harry do not need my help figuring out what’s best for them.”
The couple has gathered a team of powerful players, including the Obamas, George and Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, James Corden and even Andy Cohen … he just offered Meghan a spot on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which is kinda funny.
A source told us, “Oprah was the first person to talk to Harry and Meghan about breaking free and doing their own thing, building on their own brand. She made them realize it was really possible.
And one more thing: Oprah’s BFF Gayle King is set to score the first interview with the Sussexes post-Megxit. (She attended Meg’s NYC baby shower and visited them after the birth of Archie.)
THE EMERGENCY FAMILY MEETING
Queen Elizabeth called for an emergency family meeting in the wake of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s shocking announcement.
The Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William have united to tell their offices to get to work ASAP to find a solution to Meghan and Harry’s desire to step away from senior royal work. They have asked their teams to work with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s office and governments in both Canada and the UK on the issue.
Discussions are focusing on funding for the couple and their team, security and protection, and whether they will have official residences. And then there is the question of what kind of roles they are hoping to fulfill on behalf of the Queen. The governments will be consulted on those key issues, too.
We are also hearing there’s potential that the Sussexes may keep a home in Los Angeles as well.
“There is a lot of hurt about this,” one royal source says.
And there are probably some punishments coming down for the Sussexes.
Harry had already been warned by Prince Charles not to make any rash decisions on his future role in the royal household; The Queen gave strict instructions not to make any announcements after he requested a face-to-face with her … But they did it anyway, only giving Charles and Prince William a 10-minute warning before they released the statement.
