Whether you're doing much of a Christmas celebration with your family at home this year or not - there's still a big chance you'll have Christmas cookies involved in the celebration somehow, right? You may be leaving them for Santa orrrr just eating them on your own.
Do you have a FAVORITE Christmas cookie though?
According to a survey, America's favorite (and least favorite) Christmas cookies were revealed! The participants were shown two cookies at a time and then asked to pick which they preferred, so the percentages that determine the favorite and least favorite cookie are based on their "win percentage."
You may be surprised to find that chocolate chip came in first place with 78% and sugar cookies came in second with 64%. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE both chocolate chip and sugar cookies... but something about them doesn't specifically scream "Christmas" at me!
The next cookies on the list were fudge (63%,) double chocolate (61%) and shortbread (also 61%). Which, I guess now we're getting more in the holiday spirit, though I certainly expected to see more peppermint, cinnamon and other holiday flavors!
Brownie-cookie "brookies" and M&M cookie each had a win percentage of 61%, followed closely by butter cookies, peanut butter cookies (otherwise known as "peanut butter blossoms") and butter pecan cookies each with a win percentage of 60%.
So while these are all well-liked cookies... what are the LEAST favorite cookies of the season??
The lowed ranking cookies includes more unusual options like anise (29%,) chai sugar (30%) and Pfeffernusse, or ground spice (31%). A couple other cookies that aren't as loved are just below German-style spritz cookies (32%,) meringues (34%,) and madeleines (34%).
And somehow there STILL isn't a peppermint cookie in sight! Come onnnn it's Christmas!
Leave me a Yap with your faaaavorite kind of cookie during Christmastime so I can make them for my family!
