I still very much remember my quinceñera! Picking out my dress with my mom, dancing the waltz with my dad… it’s a coming of age when you turn 15 and a welcome into womanhood! My sister and I both had quinces but my brother didn’t. And now I’m wondering maybe he would have wanted one too.
This mom is changing that narrative with her son Gustavo… He’s the youngest of 4 kids and all 3 of his older sisters had quiences. His mom decided she wanted to throw him a Quienceñero!
Many of the components for the party were custom made in Mexico, including his own black and gold charro suit.
I’ve never heard of anyone having a quienceñero but I’m here for it! There’s no reason we should be having things just for girls or just for boys in 2022. I’m all for traditions but tweaking them a bit is totally cool too!
