Each year, people visit the Disney parks by the tens of millions, and many of them do it even though it’s going to put a major dent in their bank account.
One analysis showed that 18% of Disney park goers go into debt to pay for their Disney vacation.
Remember Jeff Reitz of Huntington Beach, who famously visited Disneyland 2,995 days in a row… he’s just one of the many where Disney is an obsession. But why???? Science can explain!
Travel Craving - In other words, for people who describe their love of Disney travel this way, craving a trip to Disneyland may not only be a desire, but a yearning that continues to grow until satisfied.
The Smell - Smell triggers memories! One’s sense of smell has a stronger link to memory and emotion than any of the other senses.
Peer Influence - Though people frequently take and share pictures of many types of travel, few vacations feel as obligatory to document as a trip to Disneyland.
And perhaps Disney’s most powerful strategy is how it triggers feelings of nostalgia through its many throwback details. It’s almost exactly the same as when you were a kid and life was simpler.
