With the release of the first single off of Daft Punk's new album Random Access Memories, "Get Lucky" featuring Pharrell Williams, it seems everyone has gone robot-crazy. After hearing a few of the collaborators speak - like Pharrell, Giorgio Moroder, Todd Edwards, and Nile Rogers - the guys have released epiosode 5 of their "The Collaborators" series, featuring Animal Collective's Panda Bear.
Panda Bear, real name Noah Lennox, talks about working with the French robot duo on their song in Paris. He goes into describing their process, and says:
It was cool for me to see a little bit, how they went about crafting the sounds. And how, instead of sampling an old piece of music, it was like, recording things in an old way to make something that kind of sound like it was sampling something old. But which in turn, kind of makes it sound new, if you know what I mean. Because it's very repetitive like a sample, or a short piece of sound. But it's got these little sonic details that come from a live performance when you're playing an instrument.
