Graco is recalling 3.8 million car seats because children could become trapped by the buckles because they may not unlatch. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, it’s the fourth-largest child seat recall in the history of the US.

The federal government isn’t happy with the recall because they think it should also include another 1.8 million rear-facing seats designed for infants. The NHTSA sent a letter criticizing Graco saying they need to include 7 other models with the same buckle system that the recalled seats use.

The Graco recall will cover 11 models made from 2009 through 2013.  People that registered their seats with the company will be sent replacement buckles, so there’s nothing you need to do.  If you didn’t register your seat with Graco, they will send a replacement buckle once they’re requested.  To request them, call Graco’s consumer hotline at 1-800-345-4109 or visit

Here is the list of the models included in the recall:  My Ride 70, Size 4 Me 70, Smartseat, Cozy Cline, Comfort Sport, Classic Ride 50, My Ride 65, My Ride with Safety Surround, Nautilus, Nautilus Elite and Argos 70.
